Guns solve problems - Arizona Style

Guns solve problems :-)

To find these things that I am talking about as relevant, you must read the gun laws in Arizona found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Arizona

Arizona is found here in the United States:

I will now bring in some statistics from two different sources. One from Arizona, and one from Illinois  The statistics are deaths caused by guns per state in amounts. The population will be given as well. That way we can surmise the percentage of the population that has died by illegal gun use.

The totals are for Suicides in Arizona and for Homicides for the year of 2009. Suicides are the higher number. Total there are only 820 illegal deaths by gun in 2009 in Arizona. These numbers were found on the website: http://www.azdhs.gov/plan/report/im/im/im09/7/pdf/7-7.pdf

The official word from firearm related deaths in 2009 in Illinois was 1,058 according to this website: http://www.ichv.org/facts-about-firearm-violence/

The population of Arizona in 2009 was 6,595,778
The population of Illinois in 2009 was 12,910,410

So in comparison, from Illegal gun deaths and population, Arizona is at .804% of the population.
Illinois is at 1.22% of the population.

Arizona's gun laws are a LOT looser than those of Illinois. And Illinois has a lot more deaths by guns than that of Arizona's. I would make a case that Arizona has a lot more respect for guns and life/death than that of Illinois because of the respect that the general public has for the residents in AZ due to more people who are able to carry guns. I live in Arizona, and I see a lot more respect (or fear) from gangs, police, and other groups who carry guns. They have more fear because of the general public who are able to carry guns according to the laws. This is a good thing. Power to the people according to the constitution of the USA :-)

Have a good day!

Church lesson, Gallon Smashing, and time with family

Today I listened to a church message. It was about how we get strength from the teachings of Christ.

I just went to http://now.msn.com/ and saw one of their viral videos. Here is one of my favorites! It's called gallon smashing... You just gotta see it lol!

Other than that, I've been spending the weekend with my parents and my wife. It has been a good two days off from the week. It's like a mini vacation at my parents place (when we're guests).

That's about it. Have a good day! :-)

Photo of the day, Hangin out with Mom and cleaning the house... other stuff too.

Here is the photo of the day:

Today, I am going over to my mothers house for the weekend. It's always nice to stay at a place that has inviting people, food and stuff to do. At Mom's, my wife and her will be doing a bunch of crafty things.

Today I cleaned bits and pieces of the house. It was good to see the house transform into a better place to live. That's about it for now.

Have a good day :-)

Fringe, Jay Leno's Garage and Russian Meteor

I am in the middle of watching Fringe Season 4 Episode 5 called "Novation." Prior to that I was watching Jay Leno's Garage. Jay Leno's Garage stars the famous Jay Leno - obviously. He hosts a show that is found on the internet, and I don't know which else T.V. network. He has lots of interesting cars that he tests out. He also helped design, fund and build a jet car called the "Eco Jet." It is really interesting stuff. I have been following the construction of the jet car since it started two years ago.

Here is the latest video of Jay Leno's Eco Jet Car

There is lots of news about a meteor that hit a small town in Russia recently. Here is one of the best I've found on it.

Have a good night! :-)

Good or bad for finances of the people in San Francisco - You decide

In San Francisco, they are moving towards a zero waste policy with their trash. Everything is mandatory to be recycled. The drawback is that everyone in the city is paying $28, or so, dollars more a month for these trashcans and recycling bins. They do this  on top of their regular taxes, and are paying for only 12 acres of land with 128 employees for the recycling facility. I don't know if any other city, or state, will ever take this on, because of the higher rate for such a small operation. Right now "Recology," the company that is doing this operation, is stating that 80% of the trash in San Francisco is being turned into compost, recycled plastics, metals, and other forms of materials. Of course, there are skeptics and name calling, but the mayor says that it is truly happening, and not some made up number of 80% recycled. There are private auditors and inspectors. I would stand by the mayors words that they are truly recycling that much. I think that it is a good idea, but the price might be too much for most cities. There might be upcoming competition to Recology's abilities. That would bring prices down for sure.

Is it good, or bad? Watch the video below to decide.

So far I have had two funerals within four days

Within four days, I have had two funerals for family members. The first was that of my Grandma's on my Mom's side. The second death happened the day after my Grandma's funeral. It was Earl Johnson's funeral. A relative on my Mother's side. There was a big crowd there. I'm guessing a lot of employees of his, family, friends, and friends of friends. He was a well known man! The speakers at the church gave great tributes (memories) of his life. It is said that he worked a full day, the day before he died. He called one of his daughters and told her that he was tired. He went to sleep, and did not wake the next day. His co-workers went to his house and found him in the easy chair and in his slippers. He had the courtesy to not bother any of his family with his troubles. He knew, or at least thought he knew, that he wasn't going to make it through the night.

My impression of him, based on the crowd, the stories, and the testimonies, of his life given today, was that of a very hard worker, someone who didn't accept any slack, but was loving to his family and very protective. A story from the life of Earl Johnson was: There was a split between the land of the US verses the land of the Indians. The split went right between the river nearby and his factory. Earl had to keep the water away from his factory. He built some sort of structure to keep the water from flooding it. The indians would tear it down, claiming that it is their land, and they could do whatever they wanted with it. Earl built the structure with a large piece of farming equipment. The indians would again, and again, tear it down. Eventually, Earl took his farming equipment and placed it under their equipment and raised it off the ground, to where it was impossible for them to use it. They wouldn't be able to get any traction from the wheels because of Earls sacrificing actions. Somehow Earl disabled his vehicle in someway and sacrificed it for the ability to keep the water from his factory. I am not sure, but I think that the indians could not afford another vehicle. Earl, on the other hand, could afford a new vehicle. So, in my perception he sacrificed his vehicle so that he could save his factory. It was a great story about how adamant, and dedicated Earl was to his family, and to his work to support his family.

There were a ton of real old fashioned cowboys, and cowgirls at the funeral. People who had ranches with free range cows, which would get fatter and better than corralled cows. The cowboys came in jeans, a nice shirt, and a cowboy hat. It was good to see a lot of hard working people as apposed to the slew of workers in the city. The city workers seem to have no ethics, no thought of dedication to ones jobs, or lively hood. The ranchers and cattlemen had a sense of life vs. death, better ethics, true family values, and carried a different attitude (or spirit) than those in the city.

I was just speaking to a porta-rican, at a local, family owned, restaurant called, "Tamales." We were talking about family values, respect, and passing on our knowledge to our younger siblings. We also talked about how disrespectful and sad the people in America think about the Mexicans or Porta-Ricans. In Porta-Rico they all love each other, look out for each other, and respect each other. In Mexico, it is the same, but as soon as they cross the border, they are looked down upon and, may I use a scripture now, "Trodden under feet." (Isaiah 28:3). As stated in the scripture, WHO ARE WE TRODDENING? The answer is that we are troddening ourselves and our Christ. "Even if ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:40). I would assume that because of all the bad press that has been written, spoken, and displayed about these wonderful people, we are hesitant to trust them. That is simply about 1% of their bad eggs from their lands. The rest of them are loving, caring and grateful to come to America, or stay in their own lands to keep their family close.

I think that I have met my quota for the amount of deaths in the family for the next year! I hope to not see any one of the elderly in my distant, or close family, pass away until twenty years from now. As some of you know, I have my own sad story, and wouldn't like a repeat. Ever.

Earl Johnson was a great man! May he live forever in peace and happiness in heaven!

Thoughts about life

As the leaf falls from the ground slowly from the trees in the forest, during the season of fall, so do we in life. We all fall and feed the ground with our nutrient rich selves. We give life to the trees to grow and thrive again. There are times when I wish that I didn't have to fall to the ground, but a las I do. I can't keep myself from falling, but I wish to spend a long time up in that tree of life. There are so many things to do, and accomplish in this life. There are stories to be written through my experiences and my effects on other plants, animals and people before I let go and become dust in the wind again. The circle of life goes on. I am glad to be a part of it!

Philosophies of life flash through my mind as a whistling wind. I think about which ones are true and which ones are false. Perhaps I will never know, but I will strive to find purpose in life during the mean time. I will find purpose with my job, with my wife, with my family, with my friend, and with everyone else. I will try to be friendly to all life alike. I will be thankful, happy, healthy, good, and full of wonder when I find new and informative, but true, information. I love life, and I love how much humans are able to achieve!

There is a bit of sadness compiling in my head. It makes me reminisce about my past woes, and unhappiness. Although I could dwell on these and find myself in a pitiful mind-set, I won't allow myself to go down that path. I will be busy, friendly and active in life. I could think about how people around me are talking about me negatively, or I could realize that everyone has their own life with their own thoughts that hardly ever incude me. It is a sad, and selfish, thought to think that I am on everyones mind. It is purely impossible.

Right now I'm sitting in a coffee shop drinking my favorite hot chocolate. There are people all around me. They are being quiet, and calm, but sometimes a little jerky in their motions. It makes me think that I am making them uncomfortable, but is that just my thought, or is it true. This is a non-profit coffee shop organization for women in need. Me being here might actually make them nervous. I hope not, but I think it it is inevitable.

The wall is a huge chalk board. There are events strone about the message board with times and titles. Tonight is open mic comedy going from 7-9pm. I wonder who the comedian is. They don't say. It is probably a good idea because keeping it a mystery is intriguing.

That's bout it.

Have a great day!!!

How NASA might build its very first warp drive

A few months ago, physicist Harold White stunned the aeronautics world when he announced that he and his team at NASA had begun work on the development of a faster-than-light warp drive. His proposed design, an ingenious re-imagining of an Alcubierre Drive, may eventually result in an engine that can transport a spacecraft to the nearest star in a matter of weeks — and all without violating Einstein's law of relativity. We contacted White at NASA and asked him to explain how this real life warp drive could actually work.
The above image of a Vulcan command ship features a warp engine similar to an Alcubierre Drive. Image courtesy CBS.

The Alcubierre Drive

The idea came to White while he was considering a rather remarkable equation formulated by physicist Miguel Alcubierre. In his 1994 paper titled, "The Warp Drive: Hyper-Fast Travel Within General Relativity," Alcubierre suggested a mechanism by which space-time could be "warped" both in front of and behind a spacecraft.
How NASA might build its very first warp driveMichio Kaku dubbed Alcubierre's notion a "passport to the universe." It takes advantage of a quirk in the cosmological code that allows for the expansion and contraction of space-time, and could allow for hyper-fast travel between interstellar destinations. Essentially, the empty space behind a starship would be made to expand rapidly, pushing the craft in a forward direction — passengers would perceive it as movement despite the complete lack of acceleration.
White speculates that such a drive could result in "speeds" that could take a spacecraft to Alpha Centauri in a mere two weeks — even though the system is 4.3 light-years away.
In terms of the engine's mechanics, a spheroid object would be placed between two regions of space-time (one expanding and one contracting). A "warp bubble" would then be generated that moves space-timearound the object, effectively repositioning it — the end result being faster-than-light travel without the spheroid (or spacecraft) having to move with respect to its local frame of reference.
"Remember, nothing locally exceeds the speed of light, but space can expand and contract at any speed," White told io9. "However, space-time is really stiff, so to create the expansion and contraction effect in a useful manner in order for us to reach interstellar destinations in reasonable time periods would require a lot of energy."
And indeed, early assessments published in the ensuing scientific literature suggested horrific amounts of energy — basically equal to the mass-energy of the planet Jupiter (what is 1.9 × 1027 kilograms or 317 Earth masses). As a result, the idea was brushed aside as being far too impractical. Even though nature allowed for a warp drive, it looked like we would never be able to build one ourselves.
"However," said White, "based on the analysis I did the last 18 months, there may be hope." The key, says White, may be in altering the geometry of the warp drive itself.

A new design

In October of last year, White was preparing for a talk he was to give for the kickoff to the 100 Year Starship project in Orlando, Florida. As he was pulling together his overview on space warp, he performed a sensitivity analysis for the field equations, more out of curiosity than anything else.
"My early results suggested I had discovered something that was in the math all along," he recalled. "I suddenly realized that if you made the thickness of the negative vacuum energy ring larger — like shifting from a belt shape to a donut shape — and oscillate the warp bubble, you can greatly reduce the energy required — perhaps making the idea plausible." White had adjusted the shape of Alcubierre's ring which surrounded the spheroid from something that was a flat halo to something that was thicker and curvier.
He presented the results of his Alcubierre Drive rethink a year later at the 100 Year Starship conference in Atlanta where he highlighted his new optimization approaches — a new design that could significantly reduce the amount of exotic matter required. And in fact, White says that the warp drive could be powered by a mass that's even less than that of the Voyager 1 spacecraft.
That's a significant change in calculations to say the least. The reduction in mass from a Jupiter-sized planet to an object that weighs a mere 1,600 pounds has completely reset White's sense of plausibility — and NASA's.

Hitting the lab

Theoretical plausibility is all fine and well, of course. What White needs now is a real-world proof-of-concept. So he's hit the lab and begun work on actual experiments.
"We're utilizing a modified Michelson-Morley interferometer — that allows us to measure microscopic perturbations in space time," he said. "In our case, we're attempting to make one of the legs of the interferometer appear to be a different length when we energize our test devices." White and his colleagues are trying to simulate the tweaked Alcubierre drive in miniature by using lasers to perturb space-time by one part in 10 million.
Of course, the interferometer isn't something that NASA would bolt onto a spaceship. Rather, it's part of a larger scientific pursuit.
"Our initial test device is implementing a ring of large potential energy — what we observe as blue shifted relative to the lab frame — by utilizing a ring of ceramic capacitors that are charged to tens of thousands of volts," he told us. "We will increase the fidelity of our test devices and continue to enhance the sensitivity of the warp field interferometer — eventually using devices to directly generate negative vacuum energy."
He points out that Casimir cavities, physical forces that arise from a quantized field, may represent a viable approach.
And it's through these experiments, hopes White, that NASA can go from the theoretical to the practical.

Waiting for that "Chicago Pile" moment

Given just how fantastic this all appears, we asked White if he truly thinks a warp-generating spacecraft might someday be constructed.
"Mathematically, the field equations predict that this is possible, but it remains to be seen if we could ever reduce this to practice."
What White is waiting for is existence of proof — what he's calling a "Chicago Pile" moment — a reference to a great practical example.
"In late 1942, humanity activated the first nuclear reactor in Chicago generating a whopping half Watt — not enough to power a light bulb," he said. "However, just under one year later, we activated a ~4MW reactor which is enough to power a small town. Existence proof is important."
His cautious approach notwithstanding, White did admit that a real-world warp drive could create some fascinating possibilities for space travel — and would certainly reset our sense of the vastness of the cosmos.
"This loophole in general relativity would allow us to go places really fast as measured by both Earth observers, and observers on the ship — trips measured in weeks or months as opposed to decades and centuries," he said.
But for now, pursuit of this idea is very much in science mode. "I'm not ready to discuss much beyond the math and very controlled modest approaches in the lab," he said.
Which makes complete sense to us, as well. But thanks to these preliminary efforts, White has already done much to instill a renewed sense of hope and excitement over the possibilities. Faster-than-light travel may await us yet.

My Grandmother - Years 1931 to Feb 1st 12:45pm Arizona time 2013

My grandmother recently passed away. She was a great woman!!! There are so many words to surmise her life, that it would take a bible to summarize it. She was always so positive! I never heard a word of complaint from her! She would give gentle directions, and say things like, "You are the best at doing dishes! No one in the world does better dishes than you!" That was how she would convince you to do chores - according to my mother, aunt and uncle.

I would like to put a talk in here that was given about her from my uncle. I will do that over time. In the mean time you can go check out the books, "Family Love, "and "Joseph Udall" Those two books were written by both, my grandma and grandpa, Edith Udall Wiltbank and Ronald Earl Wiltbank.

Here is a video of her looking her best! She lived to be 82 years old. That age is somewhat typical in our lineage. She died of pneumonia. Other historical deaths did not have a diagnoses, because they believed it was simply old age.

So cool! Nano-Quad-Rotors! (little helicopters with 4 propellors) :-)

This is the best combined flight intelligence that I have seen since forever! They are called nano-quadrotors. The robot invasion is COMING!!! NOT!!! lol! But, no, really. These are pretty cool, and I wouldn't be surprised if these quadrotors made their way to afghanistan. They would be mounted with cameras to seek out intel for the soldiers. These could look around corners, fly high and survey, find the man with the bomb and laser tag him to be stopped dead in his tracks. Pretty awesome demonstration! :-)

I don't know if they were programed for each scenario in a set space, or if they're truly doing things from some sort of radar, laser guidance... etc? Of course a lot of programming is necessary for these awesome flight patterns!

It would be cool if they could vary in the amount of space that they put between each other, based on what space they have to move in. If they were in a smaller room or a lower ceiling. Things like that.

My love of life

I love life. There are things that go wrong, but why dwell on them. There are major catastrophes  but why revel in those thoughts of negativity. There are things in this life to be admired, to be looked up at, to be loved, to be known, and to be accomplished. If I were to say one thing to each individual in the world as a whole, it would be that you have life!!! :-) You are aware, awake and alive! Become happy that, that is what you have! You might have a roof over your head, or a car to drive, or a bike to ride, a talent, an ability, thoughts, a job, nice things, or a loving heart. But, most of all, because of your awareness to the world around you, you are a part of the    greatest trial of your lives. That trial is of doing your best while being conscience of your feelings, surroundings, people, and spirit or attitude that you connect to the entirety of your known system of thoughts and actions. These thoughts and actions cause the world around you to be whichever color (attitude) you wish it to be. If there is a tragedy, you can take away from it the prayerful and positive emotions that were had during that time of reflection, or you can take away the horrific feelings that accompanied the event. Both parties containing the feelings attached to the event are present at any given time. It is only your choice which of the parties you choose to gather for your memory banks. Are your cash of thoughts full of life's downfalls, or triumphs?

There are too many things to be thankful for in this life to wallow in the mire of downtrodden events that might shape our future for good or for evil. There is a choice, and it starts with you! Keep your head up, keep your prayers up, keep your actions good, and do your best! It will all turn out in the end. There is an end to life, but there is no end to gathering intelligence. It continues forever. It is up to us to take a bit of greatness with us wherever we go, or to stop ourselves by taking the poorness out of life and decreasing our cash of good lifelong attributes bit by bit until we are in the negative in front of ourselves and God. We must add to our bank bits and pieces of tiny gold flakes, as in the days of the California gold rush. These pieces will add up tiny ounce upon minuscule amount until that great day when we will be above our limit in weight of goodness. At that time the windows of heaven will open and as the scriptures say, "there shall not be room enough to receive it." That day may come here, in this life again and again! With that, I am thankful. And, with that, I am astounded. I want everyone to hear the message that I have heard. The basics of the message is untold joy and great thanks!!! I wish everyone to have that in this life and, at times, I can't contain myself with my motivation to somehow instill that emotion in others souls.

Have a good day! :-)
