I will now bring in some statistics from two different sources. One from Arizona, and one from Illinois The statistics are deaths caused by guns per state in amounts. The population will be given as well. That way we can surmise the percentage of the population that has died by illegal gun use.
The totals are for Suicides in Arizona and for Homicides for the year of 2009. Suicides are the higher number. Total there are only 820 illegal deaths by gun in 2009 in Arizona. These numbers were found on the website: http://www.azdhs.gov/plan/report/im/im/im09/7/pdf/7-7.pdf
The official word from firearm related deaths in 2009 in Illinois was 1,058 according to this website: http://www.ichv.org/facts-about-firearm-violence/
The population of Arizona in 2009 was 6,595,778
The population of Illinois in 2009 was 12,910,410
So in comparison, from Illegal gun deaths and population, Arizona is at .804% of the population.
Illinois is at 1.22% of the population.
Arizona's gun laws are a LOT looser than those of Illinois. And Illinois has a lot more deaths by guns than that of Arizona's. I would make a case that Arizona has a lot more respect for guns and life/death than that of Illinois because of the respect that the general public has for the residents in AZ due to more people who are able to carry guns. I live in Arizona, and I see a lot more respect (or fear) from gangs, police, and other groups who carry guns. They have more fear because of the general public who are able to carry guns according to the laws. This is a good thing. Power to the people according to the constitution of the USA :-)
